All terrain boarding (ATB). Also known as Electric Mountain Board like all board sports relies on gravity for propulsion. Boards are fitted with pneumatic tires. Some boards are equipped with a hand brake and some are even motorized. The sport has become International since the first boards were designed and built twenty years ago in the USA and UK. The sport has three main competitive disciplines; Freestyle, Big air and Boarder X. Recreational riders have their favorite local spots to ride and will travel far and wide to hook-up and ride new terrain with other recreational riders. The sport is supported by a variety of equipment manufacturers and National and International associations. The one exception to gravity propulsion is to use a kite to drag the rider along and aloft. This sport is called Kite boarding.
